Back to team

I am a Senior Consultant of Academics and Research with KNOW’s regional partner the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS).

I have a Master’s in Public Affairs from Princeton University, and a Masters in Mathematics from Cambridge University, UK. At IIHS, I anchor the Urban Informatics Lab, which analyses, communicates and disseminates data and information related to India’s urbanisation.

My research is primarily centered on the Indian urban economy and economic geography, with a focus on the role of employment in urban development and poverty reduction. My current research includes the study of large industrial infrastructure projects such as the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, their relationship with urbanisation, and associated choices about development pathways.

I have worked with the National Knowledge Commission, Delhi, on how to improve India’s potential as a knowledge economy and in 2016-2017. I co-directed the Urban Fellows Programme at IIHS.

My core teaching areas include urban and regional economic development, urban poverty, economy and society and quantitative methods. I also coordinate courses for the Urban Practitioners Programme (UPP) on data visualisation and anchor the UPP partnerships on using sourced data for urban research with Indira Gandhi Institute for Development Research.
