I am a Senior Consultant of Academics and Research with KNOW’s regional partner the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) where I teach on questions of urban and regional governance and anchor the Research Programme.
I hold a Doctorate in Urban Planning from the University of Michigan, a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Mumbai.
My research focuses on the governance arrangements of mega-projects, regional planning, and on environmental governance questions in Indian cities, particularly around issues of climate change adaptation. My studies have focused on governance issues pertaining to the Industrial Corridor Development Projects between Indian cities such as the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. My other research investigates questions of environmental governance at sub-national scales, focusing especially on planning for climate change at the city and regional scales.
My core teaching and research areas include urban governance, urban sustainability, urban economy, environmental planning/policy, land and built form, infrastructure, and the environment.
